Marconi Express announces that, for technical reasons, from Wednesday 27 May, the monorail service will operate with two vehicles coupled together in a “shuttle” mode, running every 15 minutes.
The “shuttle” mode, which doubles the number of passengers carried per journey, will enable the infrastructure to be prepared for the return of the vehicle currently undergoing a general overhaul, scheduled for Friday 5 June.
While work is carried out to return the vehicle to the line, the monorail service will be temporarily suspended on the morning of Friday 5 June. A replacement shuttle bus service will therefore be provided, departing from the following departure points:
- at the airport on the ground floor at the arrivals exit;
- at Lazzaretto station in Via Terracini;
- at the central station in Via Carracci.
Shuttle bus journeys take approximately 35–40 minutes, with services running roughly every 16–18 minutes. Due to ongoing roadworks, passengers are advised to allow plenty of time for their journeys.
The cost and method of purchasing tickets for the replacement shuttle bus service remain unchanged from the monorail service, meaning that tickets already purchased can be used without any additional cost or further formalities.
The normal service frequency on the monorail, as set out in the operating regulations, will be restored once the vehicle has been reintegrated into the system.
Any updates or changes will be communicated via the official website and all Marconi Express information channels.
This maintenance work, which is mandatory for public transport vehicles, forms part of the scheduled management and maintenance activities ahead of the summer period, with the aim of ensuring the full availability of the entire fleet.
